'Corruptio optimi pessima' (Gregorio I, papa)
The corruption of the best is the worst of all
Like many institutions, the Anti-corruption High Commissioner is proud to associate his Office with a Latin motto. It symbolises and represents the idea of something new, but which is at the same time anchored to our history, using the essential pragmatism of the Latin language.
The phenomenon of corruption has continued to plague us from the distant past, has been disapproved of by honest people, and considered an open sore on the face of society.
Pope Gregory the Great's declaration on corruption seems equally true today and is appropriate for the objectives pursued by the High Commissioner.
