Digitising public procurement in Italy: review meeting at Anac
Meeting with DG GROW of the European Commission and the administrations of the national e-procurement ecosystem
On 12 June 2025, the annual workshop to review the progress of the digitalisation of public procurement took place at the headquarters of the Italian Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC) in Rome. Representatives from all the administrations involved in the digitalisation of procurement in Italy, as well as the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) of the European Commission, attended the meeting.
This summit forms part of the Commission's annual visit cycle to all Member States, which began a decade ago.
During the meeting, the Commission reviewed the state of digitalisation of procurement in Europe, paying particular attention to the ongoing process of reviewing the procurement directives. Each administration also presented its role within the Italian e-procurement ecosystem.
The event provided an important opportunity to discuss the current status of the digitalisation process and the challenges associated with adopting e-procurement, particularly in light of the mandatory use of PADs (digital procurement platforms) from 1 January 2024.
In the afternoon, a brainstorming session was held, during which DG GROW collected proposals and suggestions to improve procurement directives and regulations, simplify procedures, and develop more effective tools to promote the digitalisation of the sector.
