Italy and Libya: working together to combat corruption ANAC summit with the Tripoli Authority
On the morning of Thursday 15 February 2024, the President of the Libyan Administrative Control Authority, Abdullah Gaderboh, met with the President of ANAC, Giuseppe Busìa. The meeting at Palazzo Sciarra was also attended by the Corps Expert at the Italian Embassy in Tripoli, Giorgio Recchioni, as well as ANAC advisors Paolo Giacomazzo and Laura Valli.
The President of ANAC, Giuseppe Busia, expressed his great satisfaction with the talks, and illustrated the functioning of the Italian authority, which is characterised by its abstention from government policy-making and its organisational and financial autonomy. “We are very close to each other, and not only geographically. There are many historic, cultural and strategic ties between our countries. We therefore welcome this close cooperation, and are pleased to share Italy's internationally acknowledged experience in the fight against corruption,” said Busìa. “We will follow up on this intention to establish an Italy-Libya cooperation protocol to refine the tools for fighting malfeasance and corruption.”
The summit was also attended by Hamad A. S. Alshareef from the Administrative Control Authority, and Salah A. M. Zwilma, head of the investigation unit of the Libyan Administrative Authority.
