Anac in The Hague for the Kleptotrace conference
The final conference of the Kleptotrace project, coordinated by the Transcrime Research Centre of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, in which Anac participated, took place on Thursday 10 April in The Hague.
The project developed tools to identify patterns of corruption in public procurement and the Authority contributed its expertise and experience in identifying cases of maladministration to the development and testing of the tools.
The conference was attended by Mr Filippo Romano, Secretary General of Anac.
Authorities from the 27 European countries met at Europol's headquarters in The Hague, the Netherlands, for the final event of Kleptotrace, a project co-funded by the EU and coordinated by Transcrime-Catholic University.
The event presented the state of the art in sanctions enforcement and data-driven tools for investigating sanctions violations and high-level corruption.
Key findings of the project include: the first systematic mapping of corporate assets linked to sanctioned 'oligarchs'; the first comprehensive analysis of recurrent sanctions evasion mechanisms; an in-depth study of transnational kleptocracy mechanisms; an evaluation of sanctions frameworks; and a report on the impact of sanctions enforcement on corruption.
