Meeting with the Libyan Audit Bureau. Italy and Libya join forces to fight corruption.
Following the meeting with the Lybian Administrative Control Authority (ACA) in February 2024, an important summit with the Libyan Audit Bureau, the Lybian Court of Auditors, took place on 27 February 2025 at Palazzo Sciarra in Rome, the headquarters of Anac. The meeting was attended by the President of the Italian Anti-Corruption Authority, Giuseppe Busìa, together with the Directors Adolfo Candia and Alberto Cucchiarelli, and Anac's international relations expert, Sonja Levstik.
The Libyan Audit Bureau was represented by Khaled Shekshek, its President, Salah Aladid, Secretary General, Abdelbaset Jabou, Secretary General for Oil Production Control, and Abdelsalam Shmela.
The President of Anac, Mr Busìa, expressed his satisfaction with the way the Italian authority operates, characterised by its distance from government policy and its organisational and financial autonomy. “There is a proximity, not only geographical, that unites us. There are historical, cultural and strategic links. We therefore welcome this intensive cooperation, which will allow us to benefit from Italy's internationally recognised and valued experience in the prevention of corruption”, said Mr Busìa. “We will continue to build on this willingness to cooperate between Italy and Libya in order to refine the instruments for combating fraud and corruption”.
