The G20 Anti-Corruption Meeting in Brazil. Anac is present with President Busia
“Corruption is perhaps the crime that has evolved the most as a result of global dynamics, with an increasing number of perpetrators and formal schemes crossing national borders”
The second G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group meeting was held in Brasilia, Brazil, from 9 to 12 June 2025. Italy was also present, represented by Anac President Giuseppe Busìa.
On 12 June, the President of the Italian Anti-Corruption Authority emphasised the importance of collaboration between States in his speech. "Corruption is perhaps the crime that has evolved the most as a result of global dynamics, multiplying subjects and formal schemes, crossing national borders and exploiting every technological resource," said Busìa. "Our Italian anti-corruption legislation is an example of this, representing a shared effort at the European and international levels, and forming a fundamental basis for economic progress and social development".
The Anac President thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ILA for their excellent cooperation in legal diplomacy activities carried out in various Latin American countries.
“Legal diplomacy is a vital tool for promoting a culture of anti-corruption and strengthening relations between countries”, Busìa reiterated. “Italy has a special cultural and historical connection with all South American countries, and thanks to the ILA and EL Pacto, this has become a reality”.
Alongside the second 2025 meeting of the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group, a multi-stakeholder consensus conference entitled 'La dimensión preventiva en el combate a la corrupción frente a las nuevas formas de delincuencia organizada' (The preventive dimension in the fight against corruption in the face of new forms of organised crime) was held as a side event.
The initiative forms part of the broader EL PACCTO 2.0 strategy for preventing and combating corruption in Latin America and the Caribbean. It focuses on facilitating the exchange of experiences and good practices between independent anti-corruption entities, offices, and authorities in Latin America and Europe, with the aim of preventing and combating corruption. On the sidelines of the consensus conference, bilateral meetings were organised with the authorities of Argentina and Guatemala. Technical assistance in the field of anti-corruption was activated with the expertise of Anac.
